How much RAM does a Cave Horror Project server need?

Cave Horror Project is a story pack more than a kitchen sink: Forge 1.20.1, six chapters of quests, and a set of horror mods — Cave Dweller, The Anomaly, Weeping Angels — that stage events rather than spawn thousands of entities. 4 GB (Stone) is enough for a couple of friends; 6 GB (Iron) is the sweet spot for a group deep in the caves at once. The order picker reads the pack's minimum and highlights a safe plan.

On HostGoblin that starts at $13.99/mo with the Stone plan (4 GB RAM) — and resizing later keeps your world.

Running it well

A smooth Cave Horror Project server

Voice chat rides your server's portThe pack bundles Simple Voice Chat, which needs a UDP port. On HostGoblin voice uses the server's own port: open config/voicechat/voicechat-server.properties in the file manager, set port to your server's port number (the one in the join link) and restart. Without that line friends see "voice chat unavailable".
Play it togetherThe quests and events are multiplayer-friendly, and the pack's walkie-talkies work over its voice chat. Keep the crew in one area for the story beats — it's scarier and cheaper to run.
Schedule a daily restartCaves generate on the fly and horror events accumulate state. A daily restart from the Schedules tab at an hour nobody plays keeps it snappy.
